Titer Guarantees:
To help minimize risk when developing a custom antibody, we offer an antibody titer guarantee of at least 1:100,000 in at least one rabbit for any peptide sequence that we recommend, synthesize, and conjugate for immunization.
When Titers may be lower:
In rare cases, we may advise that certain sequences, especially those that are extremely hydrophobic or highly conserved, have lower immunogenic potential and may produce titers below this level. If we identify this risk, then we will clearly communicate it upfront so that you can choose an alternative sequence if desired. Even for these higher-risk sequences, it is still uncommon to see no immune response.
Customer-supplied Antigens:
For customer-supplied antigens, it is also uncommon to see no immune response because the animal’s immune system is typically exposed to many potential epitopes. However, since we do not control antigen preparation, and because running an ELISA against the antigen is not always feasible, we cannot offer the same titer guarantee for customer-supplied materials. Following our Antigen Preparation Guidelines helps reduce these risks.
Important Limitation – Titer vs Assay Performance:
Our guarantee applies to antibody titers against the immunizing peptide. We cannot guarantee that antibodies raised to a peptide will recognize the native protein in a specific assay. In some cases, antibodies may bind the peptide strongly but fail to recognize the corresponding region on the native protein if the epitope is conformationally masked, modified, or otherwise inaccessible under certain assay conditions.
